James Franco once mirrored a male prostitute for research on a film where he played a gigolo. James Franco is the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to soundbites, and boy does he not disappoint when he appeared on Inside The Actor’s Studio with James Lipton this past week.

Franco regales the audience in a story about doing research for a role in the flick “Sonny” where he plays a gigolo and decided to study a real-life male prostitute. He tells Lipton and the audience:

“I found this guy that was kind of a perfect model,” Franco said. “He claimed to service both males and females. He took me on one of his jobs. The guy said, ‘Oh, you wanna play a prostitute? You want some real research? Then come with us,’” Franco recalls. “It went down. Everything went down, as you see in the movies and hear about. The eerie thing is, it was like a movie, but it wasn’t a movie — it was the real thing, happening in front of me.”

What could be so interesting about watching two men having sex? I wonder what Franco was expecting….? Ah, well, how many other people can say they willingly shadowed a male sex worker for their job?
