Natalie Portman attributes Black Swan’s success to her lesbian sex scene with co-star Mila Kunis. Natalie Portman plays a dwindling ballet dancer in the thriller who cultivates a friendship of sorts with one of the other dancer’s in her troupe.
While the movie has a significant amount of gruesome scenes, Portman didn’t think the studio would have any problem rounding up audience members. Why? Everyone wants to see some girl on girl actions.
She tells Entertainment Weekly:
“Everyone was so worried about who was going to want to see this movie. I remember them being like, ‘How do you get guys to a ballet movie? How do you get girls to a thriller?’ And the answer is a lesbian scene. Everyone wants to see that.”
