Pauly D is the first of the Jersey Shore crew to score a spin-off show. Surprising, eh? One would have thought – nay bet! – that it would have been either Snooki or The Situation to cement themselves an empire-building spin-off.
Was this because Pauly D. was cheapest? Possibly. Filming was done in Miami and MTV executives are certain this will be a runway success.
“At the heart of Jersey Shore is the unique and genuine cast and Pauly D truly embodies both qualities,” MTV programming Vice President Chris Linn said in a statement.
“He has distinguished himself onscreen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed and dependable guy you can’t help but want to hang out with,” Linn said. “We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore, and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that.”
Well, hmmm, maybe Pauly D‘s popularity has yet to peak and execs are hoping he’ll reach Snooki and Sitch levels for 2011? Who knows. Are you sick and tired of the Jersey Shore?
