Cheryl Burke was molested as a child. Burke was repeatedly molested by a friend of her family’s when she was very young; she testified against him and sent him to prison for nearly 20 years.
In Burke’s new book “Dancing Lessons“, the Dancing with the Stars two-time champ , opens up about the molestation she endured as a child; she also talked about being physically abused by two former boyfriends.
Burke, “I’m telling my story,” “They’re not secrets. There’s no shame.” “If I can help just one person,” she says, “for me that’s all that matters.”
Burke’s abuser was a well liked retired mailman in Burke’s Bay Area community. The assaults began when she was 5.
“I felt guilty for wanting his love and affection,” she says, calling testifying against him “the hardest thing I’ve ever done … I saw his face and lawyers were asking me these questions and I was like, ‘What am I doing? Did he even do anything wrong?’ “
Yupp, there are scambags everywhere so we must be very careful as parents. It’s good she’s opening up and hopefully this would help others to be more alert. It’s hard for little children to distinguish what’s right or wrong, isn’t it? So as parents we must be super careful who we are trusting our kids with.
