Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook fan page was hacked Tuesday morning! The hacker updated a status update faking to be the young billionaire founder, it was rather benign but an embarrassing security lapse for the biggest social network in the world.
A status update from Zukerberg on his fan page read: “Let the hacking begin: If facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn’t Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way? Why not transform Facebook into a ‘social business’ the way Nobel Price (six) winner Muhammad Yunus described it? http://bit.ly/fs6rT3 What do you think? #hackercup2011″
The post was only up for a matter of minutes, over 1,800 people “Like” the status update. I myself foolishly didn’t realize it was a fake, liked it and commented it. I said if you need money Mark, go public and we’ll buy the stock.
The whole fan page was removed for hours but the page went live again later in the day with the fake update deleted of course.
