Hugh Jackman is gaining weight for Wolverine. Hugh was told by his director that he looked too skinny and tall for the role and needed to gain some weight. He wanted a thicker, meatier looking character to play Wolverine.
So, to make up for that, Hugh said he has been eating 6,000 calories a DAY! Can you imagine eating that much food every day for weeks on end because you are supposed to?
“Right now, I’m at 210 [pounds],” Jackman said. “I was at 190 … and [Aronofsky] said with the last one, ‘Hey you looked great, but you’re so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that’s not Wolverine.’”
This isn’t the first time the director has asked an actor to extremely alter his or her weight for a role. He recently had Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis shed a whopping 20 pounds for their roles in ‘Black Swan.’ But for his new role, Jackman needed to pack on every pound he could.
Do you think packing on the pounds or losing the pounds would be easier? Aronofsky directed both films, so he doesn’t seem to have any bones in asking people to look the part of their roles. Do you think it’s right?
