Lady Gaga went from an egg to a black plastic suit. Lady Gaga’s suit was detailed enough to show off butt cheeks and even nipples! Why wear anything if you are going to outline it and highlight it in front of millions of people! Oh, that’s probably why Gaga did it in the first place!
Lady Gaga won a bunch of awards and seemed genuinely touched when she went up to accept them. But her sprouting horns? The things on her shoulders? Was her egg transformation clever or creepy? Then she thanked Madonna and Whitney Houston…strange?
As her black leather and metal butt armor made clear, Gaga dominates pop culture, but if she’d emerged from ‘The Fame Monster’ a little less confident, she might have given ‘Born This Way’ away, and the world might have gotten to hear Houston sing the line “Don’t be a drag/Just be a queen.” It’s an idea all the more stupefying than Gaga’s decision to arrive Sunday night in a giant egg.
Gaga’s Whitney shout-out and Madonna-esque live performance and costume were just two thank-yous in a ceremony chock-full of them.
