Courtney Love has been ordered by a judge to pay $40 grand after she defamed a boutique owner on Twitter. Love has been known for her voracious Twitter rants and it appears it’s finally gotten the best of her.
In 2009, boutique owner Dawn Simorangkir accused Love of stealing $4, 000 worth of clothing. Love denied this and instead took to Twitter where she called Simorangkir a “coke whore” amongst other insults.
In response, Simorangkir sued Love saying she was the reason her boutique failed. While Love‘s legal team argued it was just her opinion, at the end of the day Love “star power” and the influence of “social media” was deemed responsible.
So now Courtney will pay monthly stipends to Simorangkir until 2014 when her $43, 000 will be paid out.
