Exclusive Interview with Dusty Showers, “The Man in the Pink Bra” which he wears to grab attention for Breast Cancer awareness around the nation.

Dusty showers pink bra

Dusty told me it all started back in 2005, when his mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer. His wife had asked him to do the Breast Cancer 3-day walk; Dusty was a bit hesitant.. Just the thought of having to hang out with a bunch of women for three long days wasn’t something he really wanted to do. He did it anyway for the sake of his family and he’d never looked back.

I asked Dusty what kind of preventive measurements women should be doing to lower the chances of developing breast cancer.

Dusty says self-examination is very important; women should perform regular breast self-exams to check for any unusual changes. Everyday products and the environment are also important factors associated with the cause of breast cancer. Another great preventive measure is to undergo mammography which can detect early symptoms of breast cancer.

Dusty is the founder of “The 2nd Basemen,” which promotes breast cancer awareness and research. He was interviewed by Oprah last year on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” for his extensive work on the cure, and for fighting breast cancer in a “very unusual way.”

This year Dusty will participate in yet another 3-Day walk in Boston in July 2011 and also in Tampa and San Francisco! Dusty will appear as Mr. April in the 2011 60-Mile Men calendar, an annual publication featuring twelve men who participate in the 3-Day.

The man in the sharp pink bra, Dusty is perhaps the most recognizable man in America in the fight against breast cancer. Please visit Dusty Showers website to learn more about Dusty’s “The 2nd Basemen” foundation.
