Madonna has abandoned the Malawi school she promised to build. Back when Madonna got on her Malawi kick a few years ago, after adopting her two children David and Mercy, she promised to fund a school to built in the country for all the poor children without proper education.
It sounded wonderful on paper, but Madge has yet to fulfill this goal, which has left many authorities and scholars in the country angry at the singer. As RadarOnline.com reports:
“Education Minister Peter Mutharika said: “We’d like to know why she has changed,”
“Yes, we do appreciate that it is her project; she devised it and she knows best how to implement it. But still, as government, we’d be interested to know why there is this change.”
Indeed, Madonna had decided the project wasn’t worth fulfilling and released this statement:
“There’s a real education crisis in Malawi,” she said “Sixty-seven percent of girls don’t go to secondary school, and this is simply unacceptable. Our team is going to work hard to address this in every way we can.”
Just not by building school as promised. We’ll keep you posted on how Madonna’s team plans to help the impoverished country.
