Mel Gibson has managed to escape jail time after pleading no contest to simple battery. Since last spring Mel Gibson and ex Oksana have been enraptured in a nasty court battle over his alleged beating and abuse. Well yesterday we finally reached the end of the road: Mel Gibson will not go to jail and walked away with a light community serve and counseling sentence.
As TMZ.com reports:
“Under the plea agreement, Mel will do NO jail time. He must perform 16 hours of community service with a philanthropic organization, Mending Kids, and undergo 52 weeks of counseling — he’s been seeing a counselor since January but will not get credit for the accrued time.”
Wait – only 16 hours?! 16 hours? Doesn’t it seem like Mel got off easy?
