KATE MIDDLETON, unlike most celebrity brides, opted to do her own makeup for her big day. Did you watch the Royal Wedding earlier? Wasn’t Middleton beautiful?
Wedding planner Mark Niemierko tells People that Kate took private makeup lessons with London-based professional makeup artist Arabella Preston. Niemierko shares:
“She’s had about three or four lessons with Kate at her private flat in Chelsea and has also gone, very privately to Clarence House. Arabella was suppose to be coming on the day as well but now she isn’t, because Kate‘s comfortable and confident in doing it herself.”
Evidently, Kate wants to “keep some normality” in her life after having been thrust into the limelight and bombarded with constant media attention since the announcement of her engagement to Prince William.
Or perhaps she was afraid that she would end up dissatisfied with the results if she were to leave the job to someone else, since this is exactly what happened for their official engagement photo session. Kate was reportedly displeased with her makeup for the photo shoot—done by a professional makeup artist—so she chose to remove all of it and reapply the makeup herself.
It’s probably a good idea for Kate to learn how to do her own makeup—it’s good practice for future events. According to Niemerko:
“The royals obviously do their own makeup for royal engagements. Part of the whole protocol of learning to be royal is learning how to do your own makeup!”
