MARY-KATE OLSEN is an actress, fashion designer, producer, and author. Mary-Kate co-founded luxury fashion brand The Row, and the more affordable line Olsenboye with her twin sister Ashley. In 2011, they own the fashion company Elizabeth and James.
Olsen began her career at the age of nine months, when she and Ashley, her identical twin, shared the role of Michelle Tanner on the top-rated TV show Full House in 1987.
In 2004, both Mary-Kate and Ashley became CEOs of their own company, Dualstar. In 2011, this company is selling in over 3,000 stores in America and 5,300 stores worldwide. Their success has been on Forbes The Celebrity 100 list since 2002, By 2007 Forbes ranked the twins as the eleventh-richest women in the entertainment industry, with an estimated net worth of $100 million together.
In 2006, to gain credibility in the fashion industry, after their association with Wal-Mart supposedly damaged their reputations, they began an association with the upscale fashion line Badgley Mischka.
