Former professional bodybuilder, model, actor, director, celebrity, businessman and politician, Austrian-American Arnold Schwarzenegger served as the 38th Governor of California (2003–2011).
Schwarzenegger began young, at the age of 14, to weight train. He was awarded the title of Mr. Universe at age 20, and won the Mr. Olympia contest an astounding seven times. Schwarzenegger is revered in the bodybuilding world, and he has written numerous articles on the sport. Schwarzenegger gained worldwide fame as a Hollywood action film icon. He is known as “Arnie” by friends acting, and also now the “Governator”.
As a Republican, in California, he was first elected on October 7, 2003, in a special recall election to replace the incumbent Governor Gray Davis. Schwarzenegger was sworn into office on November 17, 2003, to serve the rest of Davis’s term. Schwarzenegger was then re-elected on November 7, 2006, in California’s 2006 gubernatorial election, and served a full term as governor, defeating Democrat Phil Angelides.
Always making entertainment news, Schwarzenegger had been married to Maria Shriver for over 25 years, and the couple had our children together. They seemed happily married to the world. The revelation in 2011 that Schwarzenegger‘s infidelity led to him fathering a son fourteen years earlier with an employee, Mildred Baena, led Maria Shriver’s to separate from him. This has ignited much Hollywood gossip news lately.
Schwarzenegger is a shrewd, admired businessman, but known also for his quick wit and great sense of humor. Sadly, he appears sad now in press photos. I’m sure the world wished all of the Schwarzenegger family the best.
