…and it’s going…going…gone! PRINCESS BEATRICE‘s dusty pink monstrosity of a hat sold for a whopping $131,652 on eBay Sunday, Hollywood gossip news heard. The pastel-colored uterus and fallopian tubes fascinator, created by Philip Treacy to complement the Valentino number Princess Beatrice wore to Will and Kate‘s wedding last month went on eBay a week ago, where it immediately garnered over 80 bidders during the first few days of its run.
Apparently, fans of the elaborate toilet seat hat didn’t think it was a hideous atrocity to haute couture. The royal wedding pretzel hat, which made the Duke of York‘s daughter look like the gayest wildebeest ever to step foot in Buckingham Palace now has 143,000 fans on Facebook, and it fetched the princely sum of £81,100 or EU93,171 on eBay, where an anonymous buyer snapped it off the block.
Lucky for UNICEF and Children in Crisis, the enterprising princess ran away with the deer antler’s hat’s popularity, and put it up for auction on eBay, the proceeds to be divided equally among the two charities.
“I’ve been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted,”
Princess Beatrice has been quoted in a statement on the auction site,
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities.”
According to Hollywood gossip websites, the results of the auction is also expected to raise Princess Beatrice‘s popularity ratings among subjects of the British crown, not to mention gain Irish milliner Treacy more customers for his out-of-this-world designs.
