Remember TIFFANY and DEBBIE GIBSON from the 80′s? Well, they’re taking their show on the road.
The bedhead redhead and the be-hatted one who both used to be rival teen pop idols from the decade of giant shoulder pads and equally giant Rod Stewart mullets are going on tour and reviving memories of their respective heydays for everyone in their age bracket who’s ever danced to “Electric Youth” and “I Think We’re Alone Now”.
Hollywood news observed that Tiffany‘s hair now looks less like a rat’s nest and Debbie, who currently goes by the more mature handle, Deborah, has lost her signature bowlers. Both have also added what can only be described as plastic reinforcements to get more …uh…jiggy with it.
Tiffany and Debbie are kicking their tour off on July 29 with a performance on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Summer Concert Series, and then across the United States to reconnect with their once million-strong fan bases.
With 80′s style dance pop making a comeback via Lady Gaga and Ke$ha, it shouldn’t be hard for them to pull off. Assuming they aren’t too far gone with age to tickle the fancy of concert crowds across America. Still, Tiffany and Debbie come from an era where pure talent didn’t need to slut-ify themselves just to sell records. They should be able to do alright.
Entertainment news advises fans to expect a combination of pop (Debbie), and rock and country (Tiffany).
“This was a chance to give the people what they want and honor an era we all look back on fondly! Musically Tiffany and I are so different …it will make for a diverse and entertaining evening!”
Debbie is quoted as saying.
