Amidst continuing controversy that’s hounded the sexed-up MTV teen series “SKINS,” the show has finally been canceled, according to entertainment news. Not only was “Skins” pelted with protests from outraged parents, it suffered a loss of its advertisers, and subsequent low ratings. So much for connecting with supposedly forward-thinking teenagers of this day and age.
According to an MTV representative:
“Skins is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn’t connect with a US audience as much as we had hoped.”
Dan Isett of the Parents Television Council added his “I-told-you-so’s”, as well:
“I’m not sure if it comes as much of a surprise, but it’s a message for MTV and other cable networks that there are some lines that aren’t meant to be crossed. Life would be easier if MTV and other networks would take the concerns of parents and families seriously before even beginning production on something like this.”
Ok, Dan. So what are you planning to do about “Teen Mom?”
