AMY WINEHOUSE, who was found dead in her home last week, was planning to adopt a 10-year-old girl before she died. The “Back to Black” singer was in the process of bringing Dannika Agustine into her home after having formed a strong bond with the child during her long stay in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia in the last couple of years.

Star news said Dannika, who currently lives with her poverty stricken family including a grandmother who run a small beach bar near Amy’s hotel in St. Lucia is still in shock about Amy‘s passing:

Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her ¬daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me. She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

According to Dannika’s grandmother Marjorie Lambert,

Amy loved Dannika with all her heart. I don’t know why Amy took to Dannika above all the other children on the island, but from the moment they met they were ¬inseparable. They would spend all day playing, horse-riding and walking up and down the beach hand-in-hand. Amy used to beg me, ‘I want to adopt Dannika. I want to take her to England.’”

In fact, Amy had already spoken to both of Dannika’s estranged parents about adopting the child and had secured their agreement. She had promised to visit St. Lucia soon to take Dannika with her before she died.

Do you think Dannika would have saved Amy from falling headlong into the ultimate and fatal path of destruction?
