ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGER and MARIA SHRIVER will divvy up a staggering $400 million in assets as they ready themselves to formally divorce after a quarter of a century of marriage. Under California law, in the absence of a prenup, which the splitting pair never thought to draw up 25 years ago, all property and earnings acquired during the marriage fall under community property to be split equitably between the two divorcing parties.
According to celebrity gossip websites Arnold is worth an estimated $300 million while Maria tops the money scale at $100 million. Together, they will be “amicably” splitting assets in houses, furniture, jewelry, and other property without having to go to trial, thereby denying us morbidly fascinated mortals a closer look at the innards of their divorce proceedings.
Also, we will never know what the final figure and settlement will be, because these two are keeping it under close wraps. Darn.
And so ends the Arnold-Maria saga – not with a bang but with a whimper…
