CHORD OVERSTREET will be saying goodbye to ‘Glee’ this coming season, according to the latest entertainment news. The creators of the hit TV musical reportedly decided not to renew his contract as a series regular. But it’s not all bad news… they say he could still appear as a guest star on Season 3.

Chord, who plays transfer student Sam Evans, tweeted:

“Well it’s been a good year. Too bad its over. Time for summer and starting fresh.”

How sad! However, most of the original cast will be leaving the show as well after the third season, as they will be graduating from high school.

‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy says:

“We didn’t want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years… We really wanted to be true to that experience.”

He explains:

“The show to me is about the way you express yourself as you start to move out into the world as a fresh, young person… Do we really want to have an eight-year [high school] senior? The only way somebody could stay on the show is if they flunk, and that is always a possibility. I think [Heather Morris' character] Brittany is pulling straight Fs.”

Well, okay. Brittany is an awesome character, so that’s slightly a comfort. But would ‘Glee’ ever be the same without the original cast, whom we’ve all grown to love? Doubt it.

And also, why was Chord‘s contract not renewed? He’s only been on the show for one season! Would you guys still watch ‘Glee’ even without his adorable “trouty mouth”?
