Unlike Wills & Kate before him or Kim K. soon to follow, PRINCE ALBERT of Monaco wed his princess bride, Charlene Wittstock, sans fuss, in simple civil rites in the throne room of Monaco’s Royal Palace. This makes Prince Albert, a staunch pragmatist like his father before him, a veritable poster boy for belt-tightening in these stiff economic times.
It’s about time for Prince Albert Grimaldi, who turned 53 this March, and is long overdue to produce an heir to Monaco’s throne with former South African Olympic swimmer Charlene, who’s been hanging on his arm hopefully for nigh on 5 years.
And like his father before him, Prince Albert wed his bride in a simple religious ceremony the day following their civil rites.
How’s that for austerity in a city state famed for its lavish casinos and luxurious lifestyles?
