AMY WINEHOUSE‘s family wants to put up a drug rehabilitation center named after the doomed “Back to Black” singer, and are asking political backing from the government to support their cause. Amy‘s dad Mitch met some British politicians to broach the subject of setting up a treatment center for young people addicted to drugs very much the way his daughter was before her death.
Star news says drug rehabilitation centers in the UK are run mainly by local government health centers for which there are long waiting lists, or expensive private clinics that only the rich can afford. Amy‘s dad is looking to set up the Amy Winehouse Foundation to help young people avoid the same fate as his daughter.
“This isn’t only important to me, this is important to our whole country. There’s hundreds of thousands of young people in situations today that could be avoided, and these are our future policemen, doctors and lawyers and solicitors, that we could help.”
Mitch has said.
Opposition Labour politician Keith Vaz promised he and other lawmakers would look into this request, further thanking Mitch Winehouse for speaking “from his heart, drawing on his experiences”.
If the politicians are only going to “look into it“, then we bet we’re going to lose many more supremely talented people like Amy Winehouse before the decade is over.
