As soon as news came out of a “DIRTY DANCING” remake, fans of the original movie immediately went up in arms at the idea. Who would dare sully the memory of PATRICK SWAYZE grinding chest to groin agasint JENNIFER GREY? As if they could. “Nobody puts [this] Baby in a corner!”
Hollywood gossip websites took a quick look back at the 1987 film which features a then-unknown Jennifer Grey who played Baby, a rich teenager vacationing in the Catskills who falls into first love with the late Patrick Swayze‘s Johnny Castle dance instructor character. And the two dance across the screen, sweaty torso upon sweaty torso, conquering disapproving parents, jealous resort workers, and an audience who cheered every time Baby mastered a difficult move via the skin-to-skin guidance of a drool-worthy Swayze.
A lot of fans, who’ve mourned how the good ones are always taken away early, are vehemently protesting the remake…
“Please do not remake this movie!”
One said, and
“There is no one that could replace Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey and I mean no one.”
went another.
“There will never be another ‘Dirty Dancing’ as good as the original. I think it will do a great dis-service to Patrick Swayze by remaking this film. You can’t improve on perfection.”
But guess who wholeheartedly approves of the movie, perhaps because it’ll allow her to revisit her first 15 minutes of fame before she had that rhinoplasty that ruined her career:
“I love @Kennyortega and trust that he will do something special #DirtyDancingRemake.”
