Did you know that the gorgeous EMMA STONE got her start in showbiz through singing auditions? It’s true. No lining up during casting calls and no script reading auditions for her. Instead Emma, then known as Emily, was a beanpole of a 16-year-old who took to the stage and sang her heart out in the quest for a TV role…
Emma sang a duet with another showbiz hopeful, Alexis Mero on VH1 during the search for “The New Partridge Family”. Despite belting out the cheesy Pat Benatar “We Belong” with not the most perfect of vocals, Emma‘s personality showed through. And wouldn’t you know? She got the part of Laurie.
Sadly, celebrity news notes that “The New Partridge Family” was cancelled after the pilot. But did that stop Emily Jean Stone? Apparently not, because she starred in a string of other successful movies “Superbad”, “Zombieland”, “Easy A”, “Stupid, Crazy Love”, “Friends with Benefits”, and the upcoming “The Amazing Spiderman” where’s she’ll be playing a blonde Gwen Stacy.
We’re still waiting for someone to cast Emma in a musical. Something like “The New Sound of Music” maybe?
