KATY PERRY has become the first female artist to join MICHAEL JACKSON in a feat only the King of Pop has been able to achieve…Katy‘s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” from “Teenaged Dream” became the fifth #1 single in an album to grace the Hot 100, just like Michael Jackson‘s “Bad” did in 1987.
Katy‘s other winning songs include “California Gurls”, “Teenaged Dream”, “Firework”, and “E.T.”, making her on par with Michael Jackson as the only two artists in pop history to have this distinction.
Close to a quarter of a century ago, celebrity news notes that the late King of Pop topped the charts with “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Bad,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Man In The Mirror” and “Dirty Diana.”
The only difference is, Michael achieved his five #1 singles within nine months of “Bad” coming out, whereas Perry‘s took a little more than a year. Still, Katy‘s hits have spent more time on top, better than Jackson‘s have.
More than enough reason to grab a copy of Katy Perry‘s winning album now if you haven’t already…
