Did you know DEMI LOVATO‘s breakdown was all about her attempt to be as skeletal as possible? So no, it wasn’t about Joe Jonas dumping her. No, it wasn’t her self-claimed bi-polar disorder (because if it was, then all celebrities in Hollywood are bi-polar). And no, it wasn’t because she wanted to establish her superiority over that back-up dancer she punched. Straight from the horse’s mouth: Demi Lovato just wanted to be thin.
And why shouldn’t she? All around her swarmed bony people. Even Joe Jonas and BFF Selena Gomez were bony. So Demi really didn’t get her genetic predisposition towards the pudge.
“One of the reasons why I became so outspoken when I decided to come out of treatment and talk about my issues was because when I grew up I was dealing with the pressures to be thin,”
Demi told star news.
“It was the time in the tabloids when very, very skinny girls were on the cover of every magazine and that’s what I was looking up to. That’s what I had to idolize. I don¹t want that for young girls to idolize.”
Naturally, the former Disney star developed an eating disorder, pro forma in a business where all celebrities who tend to be tubby often gravitate to.
“It¹s very unhealthy. There was nobody out there for me to look at and say, maybe this is unhealthy. Maybe starving myself isn’t the answer. There needs to be a role model out there, and for the first time in my life, I actually feel like one.”
Well Demi’s had her predecessors in both Karen Carpenter and Princess Diana, and we’re glad she finally saw the light before she ended up like both of them…
