LADY GAGA Found Dead In A Hotel?
Buckle up, little monsters…LADY GAGA has been found dead in a hotel.
Not!
Apparently a victim to another celebrity death hoax, Mother Monster herself, world’s most powerful celebrity status, notwithstanding, is said to have been discovered lifeless in her hotel room by a website that’s been proclaiming this piece of news far and wide…
Dead in a hotel room is much better than falling off a cliff in New Zealand like Jeff Goldblum did, eh? Of course the very last time Goldblum amazed us was when he transformed into a lifesized fly complete with ectoplasmic gook, so that story doesn’t really count.
But what really is behind Lady Gaga‘s fictional death is nothing more than an online marketing ploy to gain an increase in Facebook traffic. No, really.
Entertainment news discovered that some enterprising cybercriminals posted this story together with a link to the alleged BBC news story that accompanies the headline with:
“This is the most awful day in US history.”
The landing page is a fake BBC website, of course, with a supposed video of Lady Gaga‘s discovery, that when clicked, gives instructions to “Like” a few Facebook pages to be able to view the video. Of course, the scammers get the commission, and the video is nothing more than Mother Monster alive and well, and performing.
In fact, Gaga was just spotted a few hours ago downing some champagne in a luxury skybox at the New York Giants football game while vigorously cheering her home team on. How much more alive can you get?
