MEL GIBSON can’t do anything right, it seems…he’s now come under fire for making another movie about Jewish hero Judah Maccabee, and leaders of the faith are up in arms against his choice of subject. Poor Mel, his life has been quite the descent into hell for the last few years…
Star news reports that Mel‘s collaboration with Warner Bros. to create a film about one of the greatest warriors in Jewish history has been slammed by Jewish leaders.
“Casting him as a director or perhaps as the star of ‘Judah Maccabee’ is like casting Madoff to be the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission,”
a rabbi has been quoted as saying.
“Judah Maccabee deserves better. He is a hero of the Jewish people and a universal hero in the struggle for religious liberty. It would be a travesty to have his story told by one who has no respect and sensitivity for other people’s religious views.”
Maybe Mel will take the hint and take on another project? Something akin to his Oscar-winning “Braveheart,” for instance. Mel always did a mean action hero. Perhaps he should go back to doing what he’s good at…
