Previously, star news noted Edwards seemed to have developed a predilection for “Baby” singer Justin Bieber, creating nude statuettes of him and girlfriend Selena Gomez, as well as a representation of Bieber‘s penis using Looney Tunes characters. This time around, Edwards has moved on to the late “Back to Black” singer, Amy Winehouse, who he portrays in all her skeletal glory, including the surgically enhanced breasts she got the year before.
“I thought of her as a beautiful fairytale princess, waiting to be rescued from fame and addiction, but her prince never came. I had always expected to sculpt her portrait, but I was waiting for her to put some of her troubles behind her. She made me pay attention to contemporary music again.”
Edwards says of his Amy Winehouse tribute, which he says he created in part due to the demand from his Facebook fans.
Edwards has gained renown for his nude bronze statues of celebrities, such as a naked Angelina Jolie nursing her newborn twins, a naked Britney Spears giving birth on all fours, an octopus Octomom with a feeding bottle and her eight youngest babies.
