An actress has sued online retail giant, Amazon.com for a whopping $1.75 million for revealing her real age on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), and for failing to remove this piece of damning evidence despite her request. Hollywood rumors are chortling over the fact that this actress refuses to be named, not even in the lawsuit. Clues: she’s of Asian descent, she lives in Texas, and uses an Americanized stage name.

Anyone you know?

The anonymous actress claimed she signed up for the IMDbPro service in 2008. Soon after, she noticed that IMDb added her date of birth. When she requested it be removed, IMDb refused.

“If one is perceived to be ‘over-the-hill,’ ie, approaching 40, it is nearly impossible for an up-and-coming actress, such as the plaintiff, to get work as she is thought to have less of an ‘upside,’ therefore, casting directors, producers, directors, agents-manager, etc. do not give her the same opportunities, regardless of her appearance or talent,”

the unnamed actress’ suit reads. Ah, here’s another clue: she’s nearly 40.

“Plaintiff has experience rejection in the industry for each “40-year-old” role for which she has interviewed because she does not and cannot physically portray the role of a 40-year-old woman,”

Yet another clue: she’s a very young looking 40. Well, congratulations, girl! Most of us can only dream of looking like a teenager at your age.

Seeming youth, notwithstanding, the actress has levied a lawsuit seeking $75,000 in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages.

Wow. All this to battle a claim over her age. Granted, getting work depends on it, so we’re guessing she might as well make money off Amazon and IMDb. Beats having to audition all the time, eh?

So have you guessed our unnamed actress’ identity yet?
