BEYONCE has once again been accused of ripping off dance moves for the music video of her new single “Countdown”. Does this mean she doesn’t have her own choreographer to come up with an original set of steps? Or is she simply tired of having to think up of her own?

Current news recalls previous accusations of plagiarism…is there such a thing in dance?…for the expectant mother‘s dance steps in her runaway success “Single Ladies”, and again during her performance at the Billboard Music Awards. But can dance moves be copyrighted? Can the original choreographer apply for a patent?

“I didn’t know anything about this. I’m not mad, but this is plagiarism,”

says Belgian choreographer, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, from whom the Grammy winner allegedly stole the dance moves for “Countdown”.

“I didn’t know anything about this. I’m not mad, but this is plagiarism. This is stealing. They took pieces from ‘Achterland’ and ‘Rosas danst Rosas.’”

Ultimately, the question is, can Beyonce be sued for copying somebody else’s dance moves?

It’s not as if she’s lip synching, or anything (hats off to you, Ashley Simpson).

Granted, Beyonce doesn’t do much dancing on “Countdown” given her already precarious condition, but she has a host of dancers who do. Will they be a party to the dance plagiarism lawsuit, too.
