NICKI MINAJ, one of today’s strongest voices in rap, admitted she had suicidal tendencies during her early years before her rise to the top. The constant rejection she received in the pursuit of her dreams caused her to question herself and her right to live…
The Trinidad & Tobago-born Queens native said it wasn’t easy getting to where she was now, and she had doors slammed in her face left and right.
“I kept having doors slammed in my face. I felt like nothing was working. I had moved out on my own, and here I was thinking I’d have to go home.”
Minaj disclosed on celebrity news.
“It was just one dead end after another. At one point, I was, like, ‘What would happen if I just didn’t wake up?’ That’s how I felt. Like, ‘Maybe I should just take my life?’”
Luckily, the adversity she faced didn’t stop her from fulfilling her loudly-colored, blazingly bright ambitions, and today the 28-year-old is a singular testament to never giving up.
Born Onika Tanya Maraj, she took up her own loud-mouthed and sassy alter ego (just like equally colorful Lady Gaga‘s Jo Calderone), and the rest, they say, is history.
“I will have put out five albums and will have an Oscar and Grammys,”
Nicki says of her plans for the near future.
“And I will be getting married and, a couple of years after that, will have a bun in the oven. My whole life is about being Nicki Minaj now. It’s a never-ending saga.”
And knowing Nicki, it’s only a question of when, and not how…
