Once in a while, KATY PERRY shows us why she’s more than just skin-tight flashy outfits, bubblegum hair, and a goofy onstage persona, making entertainment news do a double-take and fall down on it’s high-flying ass. The “Last Friday Night” singer donned a 50′s ensemble, complete with a mini-coif in her pink hair, and took up a guitar for an acoustic version of her song “The One That Got Away”…and boy, did she get away with it pretty good…
In fact, she plumb drove the audience on the British “The X Factor” wild.
For one thing, you don’t usually see Katy Perry dressed up so soberly (despite the pink hair) in a white blouse and black pants ensemble, and hoisting a guitar. For another, you won’t find her singing a heart-rending ballad in her an aching voice, either. But she did, and we’re all the more impressed with her for it.
You have all these performers who’ll stick to one thing for it’s shock or sex value and stay with it long after the audience becomes immune. But here’s Katy Perry who’ll put one up on you just when you think you’ve got her figured…
