ZOOEY DESCHANEL proved that she could really sing when she sang the National Anthem at the 2011 World Series Game 4, which was between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers. Celebrity gossip websites everywhere are praising Zooey for her quiet, classic performance, as it was very refreshing after a parade of embellished, stylized versions from previous celebrities.
Zooey showed off her vocal chops by belting out a simple but sweet rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” in front of the crowd at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
The “New Girl” star’s performance went without a glitch—there were no technical difficulties, no wardrobe malfunctions, and best of all, she did not forget the lyrics.
After the show, Zooey tweeted:
“Having so much fun at the #worldseries game 4 in Dallas with @markjakejohnson @HannahSimone @LamorneMorris ! Woo hoo!!!!”
Next up is “Skyscraper” singer Demi Lovato, who is slated to perform the National Anthem at Game 5—which is today. The singer apparently felt very honored to be chosen. She tweeted on Friday:
“Only my lovatics could land me a spot singing the national anthem at the WORLD SERIES!!!! I couldn’t do it without you guys!!!!”
We’ll be waiting to hear Demi’s rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.” Meanwhile, check out Zooey’s performance and tell us what you think.
