According to the latest Hollywood celebrity gossip, ASHTON KUTCHER is now being bashed on Twitter for defending Penn State football coach JOE PATERNO, who was recently fired for being involved in covering up a child sex abuse scandal.
When Ashton heard that Joe had been fired, he tweeted:
“How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste.”
Unfortunately, Ashton apparently did not know the whole story. Joe Paterno was fired in the wake of the arrest of his former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky—who was charged with numerous counts of sexual molestation of children—because he failed to alert the police about the incidents, which have been going on for many years.
Within minutes, Ashton was immediately attacked by his Twitter followers for the misguided tweet. One Twitter user wrote:
“F**k you. He covered up child rape you sick, geriatric f**k.”
When Ashton got the full details of the Penn State scandal, he removed his first tweet and wrote:
“Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet! Didn’t have full story. #admitwhenYoumakemistakes.”
“This is an insane story, I just heard paterno was fired, getting the rest of the story now… Wow.”
Ashton also said:
“As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case.”
We got ourselves a classic foot-in-mouth situation here.
Next time you want to voice your opinions, Ashton, maybe you should try finding out the whole story first. Especially if you want to air out your views to your millions of Twitter followers.
