CHARLIZE THERON recalls how she was bullied in school back in South Africa before she became the raving beauty who stole our hearts in “The Devil’s Advocate,” “Mighty Joe Young,” “Sweet November,” and “Aeon Flux.”
Did she by any chance look more like her Oscar-winning character, serial killer, Aileen Wuornos in “Monster” to deserve mean treatment from the other kids?
Well, no, not actually. But imagine a young, near-sighted Charlize who wore nerdy glasses and would do “crazy things” just so a crush would notice her…
“I wore really nerdy glasses because I was blind as could be and the boys didn’t like [me],”
the 36-year-old star of “Snow White and The Huntsman.” admits to star news.
“I wasn’t in the popular crowd. There was a really popular girl at school and I was obsessed with her. I mean you would go to jail for that stuff today,”
she laughs. Did that mean pre-teen Theron was a serial stalker of popular girls?
“I was in tears one day because I couldn’t sit next to her.”
Now that’s real obsessive behavior, Charlize. You’re scaring us just like you scared us in “Monster.”
“I actually got a lot of the mean girl stuff from the ages of 7 to 12. I was pretty much a mess in primary school,”
Charlize reveals.
“But I got that out of my system by the time I got to high school and was more immune to all of that stuff.”
Whew.
If you want to watch Charlize do her own characterization of a “mean girl,” you’ll get your chance when her movie, “Young Adult,” about a mean girl who never grew up, hits theaters December 16…
