HAILEE STEINFELD‘s Prada fashion ad has been banned in Great Britain for being “suggestive of youth suicide.” And all because the Miu Miu campaign celebrity photo shoot featured the 14-year-old “True Grit” star sitting by the railroad tracks and scratching grit off her eye.
Uh…so if Hailee were hired to be the face of Ginsu kitchen knives or a well-known rope-making company, would that be suggestive of suicide, as well?
Unfortunately for Prada’s Miu Miu brand, the British Advertising Standards Authority took issue with the ad after complaints poured in about the way Hailee was depicted.
It seems the whole world’s bent on being politically correct to the last drop because everyone seems to want to censor any explosion of artistic expression, from Marc Jacob‘s “Oh, Lola” ad with 17-year-old Dakota Fanning holding a giant flower-topped perfume bottle on her lap all the way to Rihanna‘s “We Found Love” music video that was banned in France for being too overtly sexual.
And now we have a picture of a girl by the railroad tracks, and that’s banned, as well.
Does Hailee look like she’s contemplating suicide here? You be the judge.
