Hollywood rumors heard JAY-Z is trying to profit from Occupy Wall Street. We know the other half of BEYONCE is an entrepreneur extraordinaire, but is he actually attempting to make money off the social and political movement without sharing any of his profits with it?
Apparently, Jay-Z launched a line of t-shirts off his Rocawear clothing label’s website which read “Occupy All Streets” and “99%.” But according to a Rocawear spokesperson, Jay-Z‘s efforts are purely for profit…profit for his business empire and Rocawear, that is…
Do we take that to mean Jay-Z‘s taking advantage of the three-month protest against the world’s wealthy and ruling 1% down in the Big Apple and channeling it into revenue solely for himself?
“The ‘Occupy All Streets’ T shirt was created in support of the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement. Rocawear strongly encourages all forms of constructive expression, whether it be artistic, political or social. ‘Occupy All Streets’ is our way of reminding people that there is change to be made everywhere, not just on Wall Street. At this time we have not made an official commitment to monetarily support the movement.”
The Rocawear spokesperson’s statement reads.
But Jay-Z is a native New Yorker. Surely, he understands the sentiments raging behind the protests in Zuccotti Park in the Wall Street financial district?
Unless, Shawn Carter from the Brooklyn projects who was abandoned by his dad and grew up in poverty has forgotten where he’s come from, and now considers himself to be part of that 1%…?
