Should KIM KARDASHIAN return the $172,000 worth of wedding gifts she and KRIS HUMPHRIES registered for at the luxury Beverly Hills boutique Geary’s now that she’s filed the divorce papers to end what sources are saying was their 72-day “farce of a marriage?”

Would it only be proper etiquette to give back those mountain of presents together with a handwritten note (no Twitter or other forms of social media, please) to each  of the 400 guests who were forced to wear either black or white to attend the celebration of a union that was supposed to last for eternity…or at least for longer than 72 days…

Celebrity news is wondering what Kim plans to do with those Baccarat crystal vases valued at nearly $8,000 each and $38,000-worth of place settings by Buccellati. It’s not as if she and Kris have a home to share now, anyway.

And what about all the cash gifts that weren’t registered? Should Kim be returning those too?

According to etiquette experts, Lizzie Post (great-granddaughter of  Emily Post) and Sharon Naylor, author of “The Essential Guide to Wedding Etiquette”, as well as 35 other wedding-planning books:

“…after a short marriage, the wedding gifts must be returned with a brief, polite, and heartfelt handwritten note. If the bride is too distraught to write the notes, members of her immediate family or bridesmaids can help her.” (calling Khloe and Kourtney…).”

Post also suggests that:

“…the bride return the gifts from her side of the family and the groom return the gifts from his side. She also points out that monogrammed or used items should not be returned.”

Well, etiquette be damned. We’re talking about Kim Kardashian of the “Kim K. and Ray-J sex tape fame” here, and she’s already broken wedding etiquette rule number one about telling family and close personal friends (not to mention her husband) about her divorce intentions to their faces before announcing it to the media.

Who’s to say she just won’t keep the gifts (or even auction them off on eBay), and thumb her nose at her etiquette-bound naysayers…
