It looks like KRIS HUMPHRIES is following his soon-to-be-ex-wife, KIM KARDASHIAN‘s lead by cashing in on what looks like to be the first of many endorsement deals.

Hey, you can’t blame the guy…the NBA is still on lockout, and he’s an out-of-work ballplayer who’ll need to pay his divorce attorney’s legal fees soon.

The 26-year-old erstwhile New Jersey Nets power forward has signed up for an endorsement deal with Sector Watches. It seems Kris has learned a lot from watching the Kardashian Klan at work, so why not cash in on their methods while recovering from his 72-day Kim ordeal?

“I’m happy to be here,”

Kris finally spoke out to celebrity gossip websites since his separation from his flighty wife.

“As you all know, this has been a difficult time in my life, and I’m so grateful [for] my friends at Sector for their unwavering support.”

Wow. This guy must really have been at the lowest point in his life to consider a watch company his friend. His financial friend, that is. We’ve heard he’ll be earning at least $150,000 from this endorsement deal.

“I’m really honored to be with the Sector brand,”

Kris went on to say.

“Most of all, they really do have great watches. A portion of the sales will go to my foundation which is all set up to fight against childhood obesity and it’s a really great thing.”

Well, that’s something new Kris has added to the table. We knew this dark cloud had a silver lining.

None of the Kardashians’ endorsements were geared at benefiting any foundation, or fighting poverty, or ending world hunger…that sort of thing. However, all of the Kardashians’ endorsements were geared at benefiting one thing and one thing only – themselves.

We’re proud of you Kris Humphries. You’ve given us more faith in humanity.
