MILEY CYRUS has gone and Occupied Wall Street in spirit, making one among her first ever socio-political statements since she turned 19 on Wednesday.
Miley took her song “Liberty Walk” and created a video for the protestors in New York’s Zuccotti Park, as well as all Occupy protestors in different cities the world, encouraging the 99% not to give up….
Miley wasn’t there herself to mingle with the crowd like other celebrities have done, but she dedicated her video “to the thousands of people who are standing up for what they believe in.”
Of course, Miley may very well be considered part of the 1%, given her vast fortune and jet-setting lifestyle, but that doesn’t mean her sentiments aren’t with the multitudes who’ve braved the hot sun, rain, sleet, cold, pepper spray, and police violence in their stolid stance against the select few who control world finance and move world politics.
“It’s a liberty walk, walk. Say goodbye to the people who tied you up…Free yourself, slam the door, not a prisoner anymore,”
Miley sings in the video.
Miley‘s already slammed celebrity gossip websites and the movie industry for perpetrating the ideal that “emaciated is beautiful.” She’s also recently posed for a celebrity photo shoot to create a coffee table book to benefit brain cancer research.
Are we witnessing the birth of a new socio-political activist in our midst? Yay, Miley!
