Star Trek’s GEORGE TAKEI got in a couple of laughs of his own by making a KARDASHIAN joke on his Facebook page. Of course George Takei does post a lot of jokes on his Facebook page, but this is the funniest dig yet…

Takei, 74, who played Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the USS Enterprise on television’s “Star Trek” posted this fan-made photo of the “Cardassians,” who, as “Star Trek” lore has it, are an alien race of serpentine species on the show.

“Now THIS I would watch!”

Takei conveyed his enthusiasm about the photo.

The “Star Trek” legend, who is openly gay, is an active proponent of gay rights, as well as state and local politics. He has his own unique view of pop culture and it’s flaws, and has in fact used the 72-day marriage of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries as a springboard to voice his opinions on the sanctity of marriage vis-a-vis the rights of same sex couples to marry.

“Kim Kardashian files for divorce after 72 days. Another example of how same-sex marriage is destroying the sanctity of the very institution.”

Takei wrote on Twitter, displaying the depth of his irony.

“…and they’re worried about gays destroying the sanctity of marriage?”

We like George Takei‘s kind of humor…don’t you?
