According to the latest entertainment news, pop singer and “American Idol” runner-up DAVID ARCHULETA has decided to put his music career on hold to become… a Mormon missionary.
Did you see it coming? Neither did we… but we do applaud David for his decision! The 20-year-old singer, who came second to David Cook on the seventh season of “American Idol,” revealed his plan during a concert in Utah. He said:
“I would like to make a special announcement… that I’ve chosen to serve a full-time mission for the he Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”
A very emotional Archie then broke down crying, as the crowd erupted into cheers. He then added:
“It’s not because somebody told me that I was supposed to do it, not because that I no longer want to do music anymore, but it’s because it’s the feeling that I felt that I need to do next in my life.”
David continued:
“I’ve learned that to trust that feeling. I’m aware that I need to answer when He calls, and that’s the reason that I know I need to do this in my life.”
Good for you, David. We’re glad a young celebrity such as yourself has such deep-seated values and a strong sense of commitment. Bravo!
