Oscar winner MERYL STREEP just landed her first Vogue cover…another feather in her cap of accomplishments, and at the age of 62, too!

Why Vogue has waited so long to feature her on it’s cover and spread, celebrity news can only wonder. Streep, not an ugly duckling by industry standards, has won two Academy awards and been nominated for the same 16 times. She’s also won seven Golden Globes out of 25 nominations, making her the first actor in the history of Hollywood to have the most nominations of either. And thus, she gets her first Vogue cover…

Is it because she played a character based on infamous Vogue editor Anna Wintour in “The Devil Wears Prada?” Perhaps Streep may have offended Madame Wintour so much she’s been passed over for a cover in favor of younger, less accomplished celebrities.

Because lets face it, Meryl Streep is, without a doubt, one of the most celebrated and iconic actors in Hollywood, having started her career in 1971 with the World War II film,  “Julia,” and continuing it today by generating more Oscar buzz with her role as cold war Britain’s “The Iron Lady, ” former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Congratulations on your new milestone, Meryl Streep. We’re all cheering you on.

You too, Anna Wintour?
