SINEAD O’CONNOR just destroyed KIM KARDASHIAN’s record by ending her marriage after only 16 days.
The 45-year-old bald Irish singer-songwriter put a cork on her union to Barry Herridge just a couple of weeks after their December 9 nuptials. How’s that for short, Kim Kardashian? Sinead O’Connor just stole your thunder.
O’Connor, a self described “three-quarters heterosexual and a quarter gay” who leans “more towards the hairy blokes,” met her now ex-husband, Irish therapist Herridge, online and wed him in Las Vegas this month…
Unfortunately, it seems their happily wedded bliss wasn’t meant to be.
“Dear friends, I had for reasons u will all understand, wished to keep this private but have been told today it is to be leaked in the next few days despite my best efforts,”
Sinead writes in her blog.
“So I must now leak it myself so as the record is straight.”
Take it from the woman who tore Pope John Paul II‘s photo to bits during a 1992 “Saturday Night Live” performance…nothing like jumping the gun to jump the gun, so to speak.
“From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me.”
But Sinead being Sinead, a normal married life with a normal girl isn’t really something to be hoped for.
“Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband’s life. And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don’t drink. My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage.”
So it was other people and her love of weed that made her 16-day marriage go kaput, as far as Sinead O’Connor is concerned.
“The marriage was 16 days. We lived together for 7 days only.. Until Xmas eve. And we haven’t been awful to each other. So while I feel sad for my husband, and sad to be the cause of sorrow to yet another poor man, I’m also happy that I know we weren’t horrible to each other and he is better off free. And that I can be me. And that’s a freedom I can’t give up for anyone or anything. Neither should my husband or anyone else.”
So they essentially had a seven-day marriage. And here we are bashing Kim Kardashian for ending hers after 72 days.
Clearly we aren’t seeing things from Sinead O’Connor‘s perspective…
