CARRIE UNDERWOOD played the hero and rescued an injured dog on the highway. Bless celebrities who love animals, especially the gorgeous ones who think nothing of pulling over and carrying a bloody pet away to safety.
Underwood was driving down an interstate highway between Oklahoma and Tennessee from her parents’ house when she came upon a limping and bloodied pooch by the roadside. The country singer immediately stopped and carried the dog to her car away from other whizzing vehicles…
“I had Ace and Penny [her dogs] and a trunk full of luggage and presents in the SUV,”
Carrie wrote on her fan club website.
“My guess is that the dogs were thrown out of their car by their owners on the highway.”
Carrie took the injured dog under her wing for a time, named her Stella, and after an emergency trip to the vet, tried to find a permanent home for her little friend.
“She follows me around from room to room,”
Underwood gushed on the website.
“She’s the best Lab I’ve ever been around!”
Stella has since been adopted by neighbors from across the street.
“I cried when she walked out the door,”
Carrie wrote.
“[Husband Mike Fisher] told me not to be a crazy ex-girlfriend about it and stalk them…I can’t help it! She deserves the best life ever!”
Would self-proclaimed pet lovers, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, who always seem to have pooches around, do the same lifesaving deed, we wonder?
Now if only PETA could convince Carrie Underwood to pose naked in one of their ads, that would really make everyone’s day…
