Chanel’s head designer and creative director isn’t exactly known for holding back his words, and while he pronounced Adele’s voice divine, he thinks she’s just too tubby for him to totally become a fan. Maybe Karl Lagerfeld quite forgot he used to be 90 lbs. overweight prior to 2001…
And yet he continues to be openly critical of curvy women, despite hiring plus-size model, Beth Ditto to headline his Fendi party in 2009, and even photographed plus-size burlesque star, Miss Dirty Martini, for V Magazine.
Karl Lagerfeld must have a love-hate relationship with physically healthy women. He even once judged Heidi Klum as unsuitable for the catwalk because he claimed the famed Victoria’s Secret model was “simply too heavy and has too big a bust”.
Hmmm. We wish Adele would challenge Karl Lagerfeld to a singing contest so she could put one up over him, too.
