Star news reveals that BEYONCE may have hinted at what exactly inspired her daughter BLUE IVY‘s unique name—a book excerpt, no less!
Since Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z let the world know about what they have named their first baby girl, the now-famous moniker and trademark Blue Ivy (Carter), people quickly wondered how and why the couple chose such a distinct name—so unique that strains of marijuana sprouts were later named after her!
It could be the fact that it has the Roman numerals “IV” that stands for 4, which just happens to be Blue Ivy‘s parents’ birthdays (Sept. 4 for Jay-Z, Dec. 4 for Bey), wedding anniversary (Apr. 4) and Beyonce‘s latest album title, or the fact that blue is Jay-Z’s favorite color (he raps, “My favorite hue is Jay-Z blue” in “Go Crazy”). But we were never really sure…
Now it seems we may have found another possible answer in one of Beyonce’s favorite novels, “A Field Guide to Getting Lost” by Rebecca Solnit. The “Love On Top” posted an excerpt from the book in her Tumblr:
“The world is blue at its edges and in its depths. This blue is the light that got lost. Light at the end blue end of the spectrum does not travel the whole distance from the sun to us. It disperses among the molecules of the air, it scatters in the water. Water is colorless, shallow water appears to be the color of whatever lies underneath it, but deep water is full of this scattered light, the purer the water the deeper the blue. The sky is blue for the same reason, but the blue at the horizon, the blue of the land that seems to be dissolving into the sky, is a deeper, dreamier, melancholy blue, the blue at the farthest reaches of the places where you see for miles, the blue of distance. This light does not touch us, does not travel the whole distance, the light that gets lost, gives us the beauty of the world, so much of which is in the color blue.”
Well there certainly is a lot of “blue” in it…
What do you think? Did the passage inspire Blue Ivy‘s name?
