Entertainment news tells us that NICK JONAS is currently in talks to join “American Idol” as the show’s newest judge.
Following the lead of “X Factor”, which hired 19-year-old singer Demi Lovato as a judge in hopes of attracting a younger audience, “American Idol” producers are now looking to younger celebrities for their show as well… and their current pick is former Jonas Brothers band member Nick Jonas.
Earlier this month, Mariah Carey officially signed on to fill the seat vacated by former judge Jennifer Lopez… scooping up a paycheck of $18 million in the process and making her the highest paid judge in reality TV.
Next in line (possibly) for a million-dollar paycheck is Nick Jonas, who is reportedly in talks to join Carey on the judging panel.
An insider tells Us Weekly:
“Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge… They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings.”
The source adds:
“[The producers] think he can help bring that younger demo to the show.”
