In a recent interview with V Magazine, KIM KARDASHIAN defends her fame, stating that reality TV is “still entertainment” and that she deserves a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Delusional much, Kim?
A lot of people believe that Kim Kardashian and her family don’t deserve their fame and money because, unlike other Hollywood celebrities, they are virtually talentless. And even award-winning actors agree… like Daniel Craig (who called the Kardashian Klan “f*cking idiots”), Jon Hamm (who blamed Kim for the “stupidity” of society), Jeremy Renner (who said the Kardashians were “stupid people”), and Jonah Hill (who said that the Kardashians are a “super disgusting part of our culture”).
Obviously, Kim doesn’t agree with any of their comments. The reality star tells V Magazine:
“It’s always funny to me when people say that I’m famous for being famous. I think it’s fascinating, because it’s still entertainment, you know? It’s fun to see the progression of that idea.”
She continues:
“I’m not naïve to the fact that I’m not a singer or an actress or anything like that. I’ve never claimed to be anything that I’m not. I think [reality] is still a new form of entertainment that was kind of an unexpected thing.”
Kim then adds:
“It reminds me of rap music.”
Uh… how so?
She explains:
“When rap music first came out, people were like, we don’t understand this, what is this, it’s just a fad. But rap music is definitely here to stay, and I think reality shows have proven they are as well. But when something is newer, people don’t really understand it.”
Kim goes on to argue the relevancy of reality TV by saying that it has pretty much replaced the now not-so-popular soap operas. She says:
“You can see that soap operas aren’t on the air as much anymore. I think reality shows are taking over that genre, but I think the draw to our show is that we are relatable… people saying, ‘I don’t have any sisters, but you make me feel like I’m part of the family,’ or, ‘I have four sisters and it reminds me of you guys!’ I think it’s just a new world with social media. The interaction I have with my fans and the access is so much fun to me. I love that connection.”
When asked if she can see herself becoming a respected TV star one day, Kim says:
“I think there was a quote where somebody said that reality stars will never get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, of course I’m so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want. I would love to break that mold.”
Right…
Keep dreaming, girl!
